Northport Woman Accused of Shooting Ex, Charged with Attempted Murder
A Northport woman was arrested this weekend and accused of shooting her ex-husband after they spent time together at a local bar.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said Northport Police Officers were called to a residence on Meadowlark Lane Saturday on reports of a shooting.
They found a man there suffering from one gunshot wound and turned the case over to the VCU, which investigates all major assaults and homicides in the area.
Kennedy said police believe the suspect, Jerrie Denise Pate, spent Friday evening at a local bar with her ex-husband, but after they got home, they began arguing.
He said at some point during the exchange, Pate produced a firearm and shot her ex-husband one time.
The victim is expected to survive his injuries, Kennedy said, and Pate was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
She was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Saturday night, where her bond has not yet been set. Her mugshot was also not publicly available Sunday morning.
