Police have charged a local man with multiple felonies after six dead dogs were found at a residence in Northport earlier this month.

Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said Northport Police were called to a residence in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King, Boulevard on August 7th on reports of a number of dead animals.

Carpenter said officers responded and found six dead dogs at the home and an investigation was launched to find who was responsible.

After three weeks of outrage about the case building on social media, Carpenter announced Monday that an arrest has been made in the case.

He said officers served warrants charging 40-year-old Letitus Demond Gay with three counts of first-degree cruelty to a dog or cat.

Carpenter said Gay was arrested Sunday and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
