North Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow to Seek Re-Election
The incumbent city councilman representing North Tuscaloosa will seek a second term in that office, he announced Monday morning.
Norman Crow is wrapping up his first term in office after he was elected in 2021 to replace outgoing councilwoman Cynthia Almond, who now serves in the Alabama House of Representatives.
The businessman and father represents District 3 on the city council, which encompasses almost everything north of the Black Warrior River that has been annexed into city limits except the Tuscaloosa National Airport and the industry surrounding it, which is in District 1.
District 3 is home to Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol and Harris Lake, and is primed for explosive growth after the expansion of McWright's Ferry Road finally wraps up next Winter.
“Serving and delivering for District 3 is a job I am honored to hold,” Crow said. “I want to continue this growth and progress for our community."
In addition to helping secure the almost $70 million Mcwright's Ferry Road expansion, Crow said he has improved the Rock Quarry boat landing and opened the Northern Riverwalk, where an extension is already in the works.
“There are tangible improvements that can be seen across the district but there is more to be done," Crow said.
His second-term priorities would include the completion of pickleball courts at the Buddy Powell Pavilion and Phase Two of the Northern Riverwalk, diverting public safety resources to the district, traffic improvements and what he called a " reimagining" of the Phelps Center.
The incumbent councilman will begin his re-election campaign in great financial shape, with a war chest already exceeding $50,000.
“I am honored that so many put their trust in me,” Crow said. “The constituents of District 3 know I am always ready to listen and be their voice at City Hall.”
Crow and his wife Keeshan have three children named Norman, Madeleine, and Meredith.
Most if not all of Tuscaloosa's incumbents are expected to seek re-election - Mayor Walt Maddox, councilwoman Raevan Howard and John Faile have all officially announced campaigns ahead of the city's municipal elections on March 4, 2025.
Almost all other Alabama municipalities including Northport will host their own municipal elections later in the year, on August 26, 2025.
