Nellie Evans Rice (March 27, 1943 – March 17, 2023)

Nellie Evans Rice, age 79 of Northport, passed away on March 17, 2023 in Bakersfield, California. Services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Northport at 11:30 am with visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel South directing.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Junior Rice, son Gary Howard Jr., sisters Maggie Evans and Lettie Hill, brothers Henry Evans and Archie Evans, and parents Archie Evans and Emma Dorothea Metts.

Nellie is survived by her daughter Dottie Williamson (Dennis Sr.), son Stephen Howard, sisters Dorothy Foster and Alice Studer, grandchildren Dennis Williamson Jr. (Angela), Shiloh Howard (Savannah), Reiner King, Erik Howard and great-grandson Drake Williams.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Williamson Sr., Dennis Williamson Jr., Drake Williamson.

Nellie attended The College of The Ozarks in Arkansas, served in the Navy, then married and started a family. She retired from Bryce Hospital after working there for 30 years and worked for DCH Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She loved her church and visiting other churches as well. She loved her family and was very proud of her 3 children and especially her 4 grandsons and her great-grandson.
