Nell King Gray (March 5th, 1930 – January 1st, 2023)

Nell King Gray of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Heritage Health Care Center, she was surrounded by her loving daughters.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville,Alabama. Her grandson Daniel Tackett will officiate with Magnolia Chapel South directing.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Gray, parents; Rufus and Alma Dockery King, sister and brother-in-law; June and Floyd Hicks, and her brother; Rev. Edwin King.

She is survived by her daughters; Janice Gray Richards (Hoyt) of Northport, AL., and Cathy Gray Graham (Greg) of Hoover, AL., grandchildren; Tracy Richards, Christopher Jones, Laura Beth Tackett, Daniel Tackett, Shelby Graham McAlister (Nathan), Joshua Graham, great grandchildren; Landon Jones, Brenden Jones, Krisalynn Jones and Aubree McAlister and her sister-in-law; Mrs. Shirley King along with many nieces and nephews.

Nell and her late husband were charter members of Crestline Baptist Church and were members of the Adult III Sunday School Class. Nell started using her musical talent as a pianist at a young age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Moundville. She also served as pianist at Taylorville Baptist Church and Crestline Baptist Church.
She was a 1948 graduate of Hale County High School . She retired from Randall Publishing Company where she was a computer typesetter in the art department.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are members and friends of Crestline Baptist Church, friends and staff of Presbyterian Apartments, staff of Heritage Health Care Center and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
