The National Weather Service in Birmingham has confirmed that damage caused in eastern Tuscaloosa County Wednesday was the result of a tornado.

NWS survey crews observed damage in the Lake Wildwood community near Cottondale was consistent with that of an EF-1 tornado. Peak winds of 90 miles an hour resulted in downed trees and damage to buildings.

The National Weather Service says crews will continue to survey damage. Crews also confirmed that storm damage in Moundville was the result of an EF-1 tornado.
