Recruiting has been strong for the Alabama National Guard, achieving decade-high enlistments in 2023 and experiencing continued success through 2025 and into this year. Targeted recruiting programs are cited by the guard as a key factor for recruiting new guard and retaining current soldiers and airmen.

The program helps prepare new soldiers for basic training, further improving success rates.

“We call on the men and women of the Alabama National Guard often, so to ensure Alabama’s force stands ready, we have to continue increasing our support for them,” Ivey said in a press statement. “Alabama is already a top state for military recruitment, and this only further strengthens that momentum.”

Ivey's executive order includes bonuses for recruiters who exceed goals current guard members who submit names of potential recruits who join can also receive bonuses.

Ivey has deployed Alabama Guard to the District of Columbia to support President Trump's efforts to reduce crime. They are serving in the Joint Information Center (JIC), planning section, and in law enforcement support missions.
