A missing persons case has become a homicide investigation after a Demopolis woman was found dead Friday afternoon.

As the Thread reported earlier this week, Sabrina Danielle Harbin was declared missing after she walked off from MySpace Apartments on West Jackson Street and did not return.

On social media, the Demopolis Police Department said their officers were joined by the 17th Judicial Circuit Task Force and firefighters from the Demopolis Fire Department in a days-long search for the victim using boats, drones and other equipment.

The Tombigbee and Black Warrior Rivers both flow around Demopolis, the largest city in Marengo County, leaving plenty of water to search.

DPD said they received a tip Friday afternoon about Harbin's whereabouts and shortly after, they found her body floating in water.

The Demopolis Fire Department recovered her body, which was transported to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for further examination.

Less than three hours after the body was recovered, investigators were in Eutaw, Alabama to take a suspect, Michael Moses Brown, into custody. Brown has been charged with Harbin's murder and placed in the Marengo County Detention Center.
