More than 200 first responders and community volunteers have resumed the search this morning for a missing Walker County youth. 5-year-old Johnathan Everett Boley has not been seen since 11:30 New Year's Eve morning. His 6-year-old brother told authorities that was the last time he saw him in the 7000 block of Highway 195 north of Jasper, near the Manchester community.

The missing youth is 4 feet tall and weighs 50 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants, and Paw Patrol shoes.

The missing boy and his brother live with their mother in Florida but were on a Christmas visit with their father and was supposed to be returned to their mother Thursday before the younger boy was reported missing.

Massive Search

Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith has been leading the search effort, “The indications were that Johnathan and his brother were outside playing around the fence line, with a dog,” Smith told reporters in a briefing. “The brother said that the dog and his brother went across the fence line.”

A helicopter from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) joined the ground search Smith said, "We've had air support in the air, we've had drones in the air, we've had volunteers and, we've had K-9 from the ground." All the extensive searching has turned up nothing according to Smith.

Smith praised first responders and the community for turning out in an effort to find the boy. Volunteers are still being requested. If you would like to assist authorities, report to Cornerstone Church Assembly of God, 7719 Highway 195, Jasper.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 205-384-7218.

Concern for Potential Explosives

In a sidebar to the story, volunteers flagged what they believed to be explosives on the property. The search was then halted as law enforcement resources were brought in to determine what may have been found.

The father has not been charged with anything to do with his son's disappearance.
