Melinda Huffman Shields (August 19th, 1962 – August 16th, 2026)

Melinda Huffman Shields, 63, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 16, 2026.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Magnolia Chapel North in Northport, Alabama. Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jena, Alabama, with Bro. Steve Strickland is officiating.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Huffman; mother, Shelby Huffman; brother, Bubba Huffman; and chihuahua, Peanut.

Survivors include her daughters Savanna Perez (Ebenecer) and Elisabeth Cronan (Chase); sons Edward McDaniel (Shannon) and Jeremy McDaniel (Ashley); sister, Melanie Huffman; grandchildren Preston, Hailey, Britten, Brody, Brystol, Leah, Marley, Harrison and Lonnie; and many great-grandchildren.

Melinda was a fun and outgoing person who never met a stranger. Although she loved her children, being Memaw was her greatest joy. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially on the lake with her family watching Alabama football. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always held close in our hearts.

Pallbearers will be Edward McDaniel, Jeremy McDaniel, Ebenecer Perez, Chase Cronan, Lance Huffman and Chalis Huffman.

Honorary pallbearers are the Jena Community, the members of Pleasant Grove Church, and the staff of DCH Regional Medical Center.
