Sawyerville Woman Charged With Attempted Murder For Maxwell Circle Shooting
An 18-year-old woman from Sawyerville, Alabama was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Tuscaloosa County last week left a man seriously injured.
Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said police believe the suspect, 18-year-old Terrain Miles, was in a relationship with the victim, a 19-year-old man.
The shooting took place last Thursday on Maxwell Circle in Tuscaloosa County off Highway 69 South.
The victim was rushed to DCH Regional Medical Center with serious injuries Thursday, and Sellers did not provide an update on his condition when announcing the arrest Tuesday.
Immediately after the shooting, the VCU began interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and developing suspects.
Sellers said Miles is the first arrest related to this shooting but may not be the last.
"The investigation is continuing," Sellers said Tuesday. "We continue to follow leads into additional suspects. More arrests may be made as we continue to find evidence."
Anyone who knows more about how and why the shooting took place last week is urged to contact the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 205-752-0616.
