Marguerite Bumgardner Haggerty passed away peacefully in Daphne, AL on December 15, 2023.

She was born on June 13, 1929 in Bessemer, AL to William F. and Helen S. Bumgardner.

She was married for 43 years to the late James A. Haggerty. She is survived by her children William Clay Coe (Nancy), Catherine Powell Adams (Jimmy), Franklin Price Coe (Holly Ann), and Van Allen Coe (Susan), 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Weesa Matthews and Dorothy Henry (Don).

She attended Bessemer High School (’47) and was a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Music where she was also a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She loved her long career as the law librarian for Bradley, Arant, Rose, and White Law Firm of Birmingham, AL. She volunteered as the wedding coordinator for All Saints Episcopal Church in Homewood, AL for many years, and later at Christ Episcopal Church in Tuscaloosa, AL.

She loved playing Bridge with her friends, and was an avid reader and writer of poetry, with some selections of her law-related satirical poetry published. She claimed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and memorials are requested to be directed to the Lazarus Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church in Tuscaloosa.

Services will be held on January 12, 2024 at 1:00pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 605 Lurleen Wallace Blvd N, Tuscaloosa, AL.
