Kennedy said officers believe there was a "get-together" or gathering being held at one of the storage unit, and during that party, Mack got into an verbal argument with 28-year-old Shaquan Lavar Knight.

That led to an altercation, and during the fight, Knight allegedly shot and killed Mack.

Kennedy said the VCU's conclusion came after interviewing multiple witnesses, processing the scene for physical evidence and executing multiple search warrants.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Shaquan Lavar Knight and the US Marshals Task Force found the suspect later on Saturday.

Kennedy said Knight is charged with murder and being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.

This is the 7th homicide investigated by the VCU so far this year and the second this weekend. In an unrelated shooting, a man was reportedly killed by his girlfriend's juvenile son on Friday.
