The New England Patriots lost to the Baltimore Ravens 37-26 in the third week of the NFL season. The loss carries extra sting for the Patriots as starting quarterback Mac Jones went down with an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter.

Jones's left ankle was rolled up on by Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell and limped off the field in pain. Doctors have diagnosed Jones with a high ankle sprain.

According to several reports the Patriots and Jones are in disagreement as to the best way to treat the injury. He will likely miss several weeks of action, the only question is, how many?

Jones met with the media and called the injury "day-to-day" several times during Monday's availability.

"I'm just going to take it day by day, get my treatment and do what I do. Just see how I feel," he said. "If you have any more of those type questions, talk to Coach Belichick. I think he likes those questions," said Jones.

Mike Giardi of the NFL Network reports the team would be surprised if Jones avoids surgery, considering that would speed up his recovery. However, reports are conflicting as to how Jones will approach his recovery.

Jones, through three games, has completed 66% of his passes for 786 yards with 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

The Patriots could opt to place him on the injured reserve, which would cause him to miss at minimum of four games.

New England will turn to Brian Hoyer and Bailey Zappe while Jones is recovering. Unfortunately, Hoyer has lost 11 consecutive starts, which is the longest active streak in the NFL.
