Lovena June Watkins Rollins (June 22nd, 1922 – November 18th, 2024)

Lovena June Watkins Rollins of Northport, AL. passed away quietly on November 18, 2024. Mrs. Rollins was born on 6/22/1922 making her 102 years old of age at the time of her passing.

Mrs. Rollins came to Tuscaloosa in 1946. As an adult and mother of three boys, she obtained her Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. She taught school in the Tuscaloosa County School System for a number of years as both a substitute and staff teacher. She retired after teaching at Crestmont Elementary School in Northport for over 20 years. She continued her love of gardening and traveling well into her retirement. Mrs. Rollins survived colon cancer at the age of 88. She was a long-time member of the University Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rollins is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A E Watkins of Madill, Oklahoma; her late husband, James K. Rollins and son Dennis A. Rollins, both of Northport, Alabama; two sisters, Jo Etta Watkins Kopczynski of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Weta Watkins Thomas of Oklahoma City, two brothers, H.G. "Doc" Watkins of Madill, Oklahoma and Denver A. Watkins of Beaufort, North Carolina.

She is survived by two sons, Glenn F. Rollins of Northport, Alabama and Vincent L. Rollins of Evans, Georgia; one granddaughter, Tana Rollins of Augusta, Georgia, three great-grandchildren, Parks, Pierce and Phoebe Bagby of Augusta, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia Ann Watkins Jones of Madill, Oklahoma. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and their respective families.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Magnolia Chapel North from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Humane Society of West Alabama.
