King said Troopers believe Scruggs struck a metal gate and suffered critical injuries in the single-vehicle crash.

Scruggs, who lived in Buhl, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, and King said the man died there soon after.

The deadly accident took place around 10:45 p.m. about three miles south of Buhl, King said, and Troopers continue to investigate its circumstances.
