Local Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Northport Tuesday
A local 25-year-old was killed in a rollover accident on a road just outside Northport Tuesday afternoon, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.
Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in Tuscaloosa, said Nickolas S. Newell was driving a 2005 GMC Yukon on Martin Road East when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.
Newell, a Northport man, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
King said the accident happened around 4:20 p.m. on Martin Road East near its intersection with Union Chapel Road approximately three miles northeast of Northport city limits.
No other details were available Wednesday morning as Troopers continued to investigate the deadly crash.
