Woodstock Man Dies After Being Ejected from, Struck by Bass Boat on Lake Demopolis
A West Alabama man died Sunday after a boating accident on Lake Demopolis in Marengo County, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.
Captain Jeremy J. Burkett, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, told local media that 70-year-old Bruce Kornegay was operating a 2019 Bass Tracker on the lake when he was ejected from the 18-foot fishing craft.
Burkett said Kornegay was then eventually struck by the boat - he was reportedly not using an emergency cut-off switch that would have disabled the vehicle when he was ejected.

Troopers said the Woodstock man was also not using a personal flotation device.
Kornegay was taken to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, where ALEA said he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The incident occurred on Lake Demopolis near the Tombigbee River in Marengo County.
No other details were further provided on Monday. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division continue to investigate.
