John Phillip Horton (May 23rd, 1962 – March 17th, 2026)

John Phillip Horton, born on May 23, 1962, in Sylacauga, Alabama, passed away on March 17, 2026, at Grandview Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was 63 years old.

John was the beloved son of Billy and Jean Horton. He is remembered by his sister, Jill Horton Shirley, and her husband, Tim Shirley, of Eufaula, Alabama, as well as his niece, Kati-Beth Shirley, and nephew, Allen Shirley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia Horton. John shared his life with his devoted wife, Stephanie Horton of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Through their union, he became stepfather to Joseph Rhodes, Kati Michelle Rhodes-Watts, and Maggie Rhodes.

A man of unique character and humor, John had a "devil-may-care" attitude that often brought laughter to those around him. Though known for his stubbornness and hardheaded ways, he had an unmistakable way of showing care and attention to those he held dear.

John was a lifelong fan of College Football and the Auburn Tigers, and found joy in collecting baseball cards. His love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and NASCAR reflected his adventurous spirit and passion for life.
