Metchie joins fellow Crimson Tide wide receivers Jameson Williams and Slade Bolden in a deep class at the wide receiver position. Metchie, like Williams, suffered a torn ACL this season during the first half of the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Before the season began, Metchie was in the conversation to be a first-round draft pick this April. However, as the season wore on, Metchie stagnated while other names rose through the ranks of a highly anticipated receiver class. According to NFL Mock Draft Database, Metchie began October as the aggregated 45th ranked player, but he plummeted to 86th after his ACL injury.
Metchie may have gotten good news on his draft stock in relation to his injury and how teams in the league view his potential.
During his three-year career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Metchie caught 155 passes for 2,081 yards and 14 touchdowns. He joined the Crimson Tide as a 4-star receiver from Highstown, New Jersey by way of Brampton, Ontario, Canada in the 2019 recruiting class.
