His statement thanked his family, teammates and coaches before finally declaring for the draft.

"First I want to thank God for blessing me with the privilege of playing this game. I fully recognize how fortunate I am to be in this position, because it would not be possible without Him.

"To Mom, Dad, my brothers, family and friends - thank you for supporting me and loving me every step of the way in this journey. The sacrifices you all have made along the way mean more to me than you know.

"To my teammates: I couldn't have asked for a better group. We pushed each other every single day and I'll forever be grateful for the time we spent together.

"To Coach Oats, the entire staff, and the Crimson Tide fan base - thank you for believing in me. It was an honor to play in my home state and wear the Crimson. That wouldn't have been possible without you all having faith in me. Thank you.

"With that said, I've decided to pursue my lifelong dream by declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft.
I'm grateful to every single coach and teammate who helped me get here, and I'm ready to show the world what I can do at the next level."

The 6-foot-3 Letohatchee, Alabama native appeared in all 33 games on the Crimson Tide schedule with six starts all coming against conference opponents. He averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game and made the SEC All-Freshman team while in Tuscaloosa.

He recorded three double-doubles and was twice named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Davison is a projected first-round pick and was the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Alabama coming out of The Calhoun School.

He was a five-star recruit for Nate Oats' 2021 recruiting class, the highest-graded player in the country at point guard and the No. 13 overall ranked player in the country.

Along with guards Jaden Shackelford and Keon Ellis, Davison is now the third to leave the program to play professionally and the eighth non-returning scholarship player to depart overall.
