Jasper Man Killed in Walker County Crash Thursday Morning
A Jasper man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Walker County, Alabama State Troopers have reported.
Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said 61-year-old Jeffery N. Johnson was driving a 1999 Mercury Villager Wagon on Alabama Highway 5 in Walker County when he left the roadway.
Corble said the Mercury struck a raised berm and overturned. Johnson was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The 61-year-old man, a Jasper resident, did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, which was Corble said was near the 166 mile marker, about a mile east of Jasper.
No other details were available Thursday as Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
