Jarell Hodges Inspires Excellence at Central High School
Tuscaloosa City Schools, along with Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa and Child Abuse Prevention Services, will highlight and recognize Inspiring Excellence Student Of The Month from each of the 21 schools in the district during the 2023-2024 school year. Every month, two to three outstanding TCS students will be highlighted in this series.
Senior Jarell Hodges was honored earlier this month at Central High School where he was named their 2023-2024 Inspiring Excellence Student of the Month.
Hodges was described as an engaged scholar who is always willing to serve as a kind role model for other students.
When his name was called, a smile covered his face, surprised to receive the award.
“I am thankful and grateful,” Hodges said. “This is my first time receiving this kind of award.”
While Hodges is known around CHS for being a star athlete playing on the football team on Friday nights, he also has a creative side.
“I like drawing and learning about history,” Hodges said. “Our state especially has a super interesting history.”
The freshmen at CHS know that they have a friend when they see Hodges.
“I help out around the school, Hodges said. “I respect my teachers and I help out the freshman.”
Off the football field, Hodges says he enjoys serving as a mentor for the younger middle school players.
“It is important to me that I am showing them a good example of how to be a young man,” Hodges said.
