James E. Swiney (January 16th, 1930 – March 6th, 2024)

James E. Swiney, age 94, of Northport, Alabama, passed away March 6, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services will be 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Sulphur Springs Free Will Baptist Church (new building), at 21048 Old Jasper Rd, Northport, AL 35475 with Bro. Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Swiney; parents, Albert Swiney and Ethel Nelson Swiney; brothers, Burton, Billy, Sam, and Bobby Swiney; and sisters, Elisabeth, Edna, Faye, Evelyn, and Molly.

Survivors include his sons, Larry Swiney (Wanda) and Neal Swiney (Teresa); sister, June Hannah; brothers, Clearance, Robert Earl, and J.B. Swiney; grandchildren, Jeremy Swiney, Shannon Swiney (Lindsey), Leah Minchew (Sam), and Stacey Golden (Paul); eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Malika Aryanpure, Samantha Volunteer Fire Dept., members of the Northside community, and nurses and staff and DCH 4th and 6th Floors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sulphur Springs Cemetery Fund.
