This afternoon, residents in the western region can anticipate another sweltering day, with heat indices projected to range between 103 and 105 degrees. Additionally, showers and storms are possible, primarily in the southern areas.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “Heat Advisory” for Tuesday, July 2, starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until Wednesday, July 3, at 9 p.m.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments to reduce risk during outdoor work.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
