Milton Aims for Florida & Brings Concerns to Alabama’s Coastline
Category 4 Hurricane Milton aims for Florida, with winds up to 155 mph. The projected landfall is overnight Wednesday into early Thursday as a major hurricane.
Here is the concerning part, “Milton has grown in size over the last 24 hours, with tropical-storm-force winds now up to 125 miles from its center,” said The Weather Channel. This means Milton’s impacts will cover an extensive area.
What Does this Mean for the Alabama Coastline?
Even though Hurricane Milton will not impact West Alabama, issues could occur along Alabama’s coastline.
The National Weather Service in Mobile said the “hurricane will still cause rough surf and deadly rip currents at our beaches today.”
A “HIGH surf advisory remains in effect for coastal Alabama and northwest Florida beaches.”
The danger level for the rip current risk for today and tomorrow is a “HIGH” level. It decreases to moderate tomorrow night, with a low-risk Friday through the weekend.
