Mayor Walt Maddox phoned the 953 Bear Steve & DC Morning Show to reflect on friend and colleague Kip Tyner.

The mayor recalled the work and determination he witnessed from Kip on behalf of his Alberta district. Kip’s love for his hometown was always on display.

Mayor Maddox revealed that he and Tyner would connect by phone every Friday afternoon. And Maddox said he would greatly miss those moments.

The mayor assured us that conversations were already taking place on how best to honor Kip Tyner in the city he loved.

Some have suggested changing the name of University Blvd East running into Alberta to Kip Tyner Blvd. We believe that’s an excellent idea.

Maddox also reflected on Kip’s unconditional love for animals and animal shelters.

Mayor Maddox remembered Kip’s sense of humor. And some of the funny moments they shared.
