Tuscaloosa County Claims Blue Map in 7A State Championship
The Blue Map returns to Northport as the Tuscaloosa County boys' basketball team claims its second-ever state championship, and the first since 1960, in a 65-54 upset to end Hoover's three-year reign as 7A Boys Basketball State Champions.

The victory caps a special season for head coach Curt Weeks on the 100th anniversary of Tuscaloosa County High School's first opening. The Wildcats cut down their nets at Landers Gymnasium following the championship victory in a video posted by Theo Fernandez of WVUA23.
"We really got it rolling in the second half," Weeks said after the victory, courtesy of the AHSAA. The Wildcats overcame a 30-24 halftime deficit to claim the 65-54 win, with tournament MVP Ford Traweek scoring 22 total points, with 17 coming in the second half. Tyler Noble added 18 points, and Kaleb Tillman scored 11 as Wildcats with double digits.
Tuscaloosa County ended with three players on the 7A Boys' All State Tournament Team:
Ford Traweek (MVP)
Zi Davis
Tyler Noble
Tuscaloosa County finished the season with a 28-6 record after securing the program's second-ever state championship, and took the Blue Map somewhere other than Hoover for the first time since 2022.
