The Kalen DeBoer Show Prior To Missouri
The Hey Coach Radio Show, and the Kalen DeBoer Show, took place on Wednesday night ahead of No. 15 Alabama's homecoming date with the No. 21 Missouri Tigers.
DeBoer spoke on multiple things, including veteran safety Keon Sabb's injury, Alabama's renewed attention to detail, and turning 50 years old tomorrow.
On Keon Sabb:
"He battled to get himself ready to play. He battled out there on the football field," DeBoer said. "Certainly going to be missed. He'll be around. We need his leadership in other ways. He'll be out for a while."
Who will replace Sabb in the secondary?
"There's some other guys that we'll move around," DeBoer said. "Some of it I want to keep on the down-low, just as far as positions."
DeBoer received a birthday cake on Hey Coach, with DeBoer turning 50 years old on Thursday.
Alabama tight end CJ Dippre mentioned a re-emphasized attention to detail in media appearances on Tuesday, and DeBoer mentioned re-focusing on Wednesday:
"We sweat the small stuff. Whatever you've heard about this week, it's not so much different than what it has been all the time," DeBoer said. "There's part when you hear it and there's parts when truly now, when your back's against the wall, the strain we call it is understood and it's real."
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams joined the program for the first time, with his nails painted orange. "A couple of the guys, they got fired up at me because they thought it was for the opposing team," Williams said. "Yeah, nah." Williams then re-told the story of his sister painting his nails and supporting her.
"Starting my sophomore year of high school, my little sister, she decided that she really likes doing nails," Williams said. "At first she started with my mom, and she was just like, she wanted to try it on me. I'm comfortable in my own skin, so it didn't really bother me. So I think the first time, it was just, like, clear. Then it began to grow. She got more confident. Now she's gotten so much better that any time she can, she tries to come up here before the game and do them for me. She just loves to do them."
They took only one phone call: Peewee from Grand Bay. No audience questions were taken.
