Alabama Basketball was just projected to finish No. 1 in the SEC, and if they're to live up to the hype, it will require strong performances from Mark Sears and Grant Nelson, Alabama's two returning leaders from 2023.

Sears and Nelson are expected to be stars for Alabama this season, with both earning preseason recognition from the SEC. Sears was named All-SEC first team for the preseason, and Nelson was named second team.

Alex Condon – Florida
Jaxson Robinson – Kentucky
Collin Murray-Boyles – South Carolina
Tramon Mark – Texas

In addition, Sears was named SEC Preseason Player of the Year.

Sears joins Erwin Dudley (2003) as the only players in Alabama Men's Basketball history to be named as the SEC Preseason Player of the Year.

Sears was named SEC preseason second-team last season and averaged 21.5 points per game for Alabama Men's Basketball last season.

Sears was named AP Second-team last season, as well as First-Team All-SEC.

Grant Nelson was also named to SEC Preseason honors last season, being named first team in 2023. This marks the second straight season he earned preseason honors for Alabama Basketball. He was named to the West Region All-Tournament team in the NCAA Tournament last season.
