On Thursday, the Georgia Bulldogs took on the Florida Gators. The Crimson Tide are slated to play the winner of the game.
Much like the country music group, Florida-Georgia was close in the beginning.
Georgia shocked Florida by how tight the first half was. the Bulldogs led 37-34 at halftime, led by RJ Melendez with 11 points. However, the Gators put their foot on the gas in the second half and survived the upset bid. Foul trouble for Georgia also played a factor.
In the end, Florida defeated Georgia 85-83 thanks to 22 points from Walter Clayton Jr. The Gators will match up with the Crimson Tide for the third time this season. Alabama won the first matchup 98-93 in overtime in Coleman Coliseum, while Florida won the second matchup 105-87 in the Stephen O'Connell Center.
Other results in the SEC Tournament:
Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard led the Bulldogs with 24 points to push Mississippi State over LSU in the first game of the day. They'll now take on Tennessee in the first game on Friday, slated to tip off at noon CT.
Arkansas kept it close in the first half against South Carolina, but could not keep it together to make the second half very competitive. Collin Murray-Boyles led the Gamecocks with 24 points to advance to the quarterfinals against Auburn, which will tip off 25 minutes after Tennessee and Mississippi State wrap up.
Texas A&M ended Ole Miss's conference tournament run thanks to a 20-point performance from Wade Taylor IV, who was first-team All-SEC in the regular season. The Aggies advance to meet the Kentucky Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. CT.
