Tuscaloosa's Tim Anderson Walks It Off at "The Field of Dreams"

"Is this heaven?"

"No, this is Iowa."

Major League Baseball honored the 1989 cinematic classic "Field of Dreams" by hosting a game in Dyersville, IA., near the site of the of the now tourist attraction. MLB built an 8,000-seat park connected to the movie set to put on its spectacle.

With a setting in place MLB concocted a matchup between its premiere franchise, the New York Yankees and the franchise from the movie the Chicago White Sox.

Every great movie needs a compelling hero and in Thursday night's "Field of Dreams Game" Tuscaloosa's own Tim Anderson became that hero.

Anderson stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 9th inning, trailing by one run and with a man on first he sent a homerun shot over the right field wall into the cornfield for the White Sox win.

Anderson, a Hillcrest High School graduate, is one of the best players in baseball and is leading the Chicago White Sox to one of the best records in baseball this season. He made the All-Star Game for the first time in 2021 and is batting .300 with 13 homeruns and 47 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

The White Sox have not won the AL Central Division since 2008 but the South Siders currently have an 11.5 game lead on the division with right at two months left in the year.

The ebb and flow of the game matched the pageantry of the night as there were five lead changes and eight homeruns on the evening. The last one by Anderson made all the difference as the White Sox beat the Yankees 9-8.
