As previously reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread, a 911 call was made around 7:15 Friday morning by a man walking his dog who discovered the victim floating in the water near the pavilion area in the park.

Acccording to a Monday morning release from Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the VCU, the victim was identified as 38-year-old Ralph Daniel Miller.

The VCU investigates all deaths outside of a hospital setting that occur in the county and their involvement in a case does not necessarily indicate foul play was involved. Kennedy said at this time, Miller's death appears accidental.

The investigation remains open until the cause of death is determined by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences pending the completion of an autopsy.
