After delaying its opening once then shutting down after technical difficulties, Holidays on the Plaza will officially reopen to the public Thursday night in downtown Tuscaloosa.

As previously reported, the original opening date for the seasonal ice-skating rink was scheduled for November 21, but that date was pushed back due to mechanical and supply chain issues.

The rink opened a couple days late on November 23rd, then was shut down again for several nights because of Thanksgiving, bad weather and more mechanical difficulties.

Organizers for the event confirmed the reopening on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

The rink is located inside downtown Tuscaloosa's Government Plaza, which also houses the Tinsel Trail of decorated Christmas trees, and will be open for skating through January 16th.

Participants can purchase daily skate passes for $15 and view special deals online by visiting www.holidaysontheplaza.com.

EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this story reported that the rink was opening for the first time Thursday night -- the rink was opened last week, but then closed again several times for the Thanksgiving holiday, bad weather and more mechanical issues and will re-open Thursday, not open for the first time.
