SoCal Cantina Announces Closure of University Boulevard Restaurant in Downtown Tuscaloosa

A popular restaurant in Downtown Tuscaloosa announced plans to close and bring something new to its space on University Boulevard.

SoCal Cantina announced its closure in a social media post on Saturday, June 6.

"[Y]ou turned this place into something special - the tacos, the margaritas, the game days, the late nights, the regulars who became family. Thank you for all of it," the post stated.

Management teased a different concept for the space at 2310 University Boulevard with plans to open the new venture in the Fall of 2026.

SoCal Cantina opened its Tuscaloosa location in October 2022 after supply chain issues delayed its originally projected 2021 opening.

SoCal Cantina's adjacent venue, Cocktail Collection, will remain open.
