Senior night came to an unfortunate end for the players of Paul W. Bryant High School as the undefeated Hillcrest Patriots added another win to their season in the form of a massive 56-13 blowout.
The Paul W. Bryant Stampede had a rough start in an attempt to win its second game of the season as they threw an interception on the first drive of the game.
Hillcrest capitalized on this turnover as Ethan Crawford ran the ball into the endzone for the first touchdown of the game.
The pattern of Paul Bryant punting and Hillcrest scoring continued to be a trend throughout the rest of the 1st half. The Stampede wouldn't score until the 3rd quarter, where #35 Tabious Vanhorn carried one in for a touchdown. Unfortunately by then, Hillcrest already had 49 points on the board.
The standout players for the Patriots in this game are:
#4 Jamarian Johnson: 11 carries, 109 yards, and 1 touchdown
#3 Ethan Crawford: 2/7 passing 75 yards 1 touchdown, 1 interception, 37 yards rushing 2 touchdowns.
#6 Chemar Moore: 1 reception, 38 yards, and 1 touchdown
Here is what Hillcrest head coach, Jamie Mitchell had to say about the game.
"That's kind of who we are. We gotta do a good job of making sure that multiple people touch the ball, I thought we did a pretty good job of that tonight. We got a big one next week and hopefully we can wrap this thing up and go 10-0."- Coach Mitchell on the variety of players who scored in the game.
Bryant head coach, Eldrick Hill had an interesting assessment of his team after the game.
"We came out and we fought hard for four quarters, that's why I am very proud of the guys. At no point this season have we laid down. I told the guys that a lot of people during this time right here, we know they'll quit and stop coming because most people want to be apart of a successful program, but we are down and our guys have kept their heads high. They stay strong and stay loyal and I'm proud of those guys for that. For that, they're winners in my book."- Coach Hill on his team's performance.
