It didn't take a last-second touchdown run, two missed extra point and a near-pick six for Hillcrest to record its third victory of the season. In actuality it took about two quarters, as the Patriots (3-0, 1-0) cruised to a 49-14 victory over Brookwood (0-3, 0-1).

The Patriots took an early lead in the first half and did not look back as they scored 35 of their 49 points in the first 24 minutes of play.

"I mean every week we really talk about just performing up to our standard, you know, and we had a really good week of practice and the guys were focused it helps us coming off a win last week," Hillcrest head coach Sam Adams said.

Adams said that he was not as concerned with his team overlooking the Panthers as some coaches might be because, "I think we have a pretty mature ball club, especially for a lot of underclassmen to be on the field a whole lot."

Sophomore Ethan Crawford carried the offense load through the air as he went 9-for-13 and tallied 202 of the team's 232 yards passing. He finished his night at the end of the first half, recording two touchdowns and an interception.

Crawford's sole blemish came with 20 seconds left to go before halftime, giving Brookwood field position inside the Patriot red zone. The Panthers would score on the next play to break the shut out.

"He played the way he plays," Adams said. "Obviously had a lapse on the interception toward the end. But, I mean, that's the skill set that he has and that's what we expect out of him week in and week out."

With Crawford and first-team offense on the bench for the second half, Hillcrest found the end zone in back-to-back drives, thanks to two touchdown passes by freshman quarterback Jameson Farley.

Hillcrest will take its perfect record on the road and take on Wetumpka next Friday. Brookwood will look to get its first victory of the season as they host Hueytown.
