A Thursday evening album-release show at a Tuscaloosa brewery promises a great time, live music, and fundraising for a food pantry that combats hunger in our community.

Bo Hicks and his team at Druid City Brewing Company are teaming up with the Druid City Pride nonprofit to raise money for Table of Grace, the food Pantry operated by Grace Presbyterian Church on Hargrove Road.

The food pantry, which opened in November 2023, has been built out and furnished to resemble a grocery store more than a nonprofit. That model reduces waste by allowing clients to choose what they take home directly from the shelves, just as they would in a market.

On Thursday, the brewery and Druid City Pride will present a night of live music featuring Tuscaloosa band Haysop as well as Janey Simpson & Her Band from Birmingham.

The local band features Jameson Hubbard, Dan Walker, and Joe Edwards, and their self-titled album, out tomorrow, was recorded, mixed, and produced by Taylor Hollingsworth, with mastering by Jamie Sego at Portside Sound.

The show at the brewery, which kicks off at 7 p.m., will serve as a launch party for the record, with the Tuscaloosa crew backed up by Birmingham's Janet Simpson & Her Band.

Those who attend the night of live music are encouraged to make a monetary donation, which will support Table of Grace. Druid City Pride has agreed to match all gifts up to a total of $500, and the food pantry will be able to use those funds to combat hunger.

"Table of Grace is a client-choice food pantry where food is displayed much like in a market and our neighbors select from available inventory. Choices vary month to month depending on food availability," DCBC owner Bo Hicks said in a release. "The world can be a scary place and times are especially tough right now, so we encourage all that attend the show to make a donation."

The night of music, food and locally brewed beer starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at DCBC, which is at 700 14th Street.
