Charges filed in 2022 against a then-West Alabama law enforcement officer were ultimately dismissed in a Tuscaloosa County Court when a witness declined to appear at a trial last December.

The person was an employee of a neighboring county sheriff's office and was fired after a physical altercation with his then-wife ended with felony domestic violence charges here in Tuscaloosa.

The case went to trial in December 2024, and court records show the complaining witness did not appear in court to testify.

As a result, Circuit Judge James Roberts dismissed the case. Consistent with the Thread's policy, the former deputy's name and mugshot have been removed from this report at his request because there are no longer any charges pending against him.
