State Police Arrest Gordo Man in Ongoing Child Sex Crime Investigation
State police have arrested a Gordo man in an ongoing investigation into currently unspecified sex crimes against children.
Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency in West Alabama, did not share many details when he announced the arrest to local media Thursday.
King said ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation has a dedicated Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is conducting an ongoing investigation into illegal activity in Pickens County.
The Trooper said as part of that investigation, police have arrested 59-year-old Roy Acker, a Gordo man.
Jail records indicate Acker was arrested last Friday, May 5th, and charged with two counts of Facilitating Solicitation of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Child.
Although case details have not been made public, Alabama law forbids anyone from sharing any private information about a juvenile for the purpose of "facilitating, encouraging, offering or soliciting unlawful sexual conduct with a child."
Acker remained jailed Thursday, where his bond is set at $5,000.
Corporal King said ALEA's findings will eventually be turned over to the 24th Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution. No other details were available Thursday.
