Geraldine “Judy” Smith Mayo (December 19th, 1941 – January 28th, 2025)

Geraldine "Judy" Smith Mayo, age 83, of Northport, Alabama, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Vance, Alabama.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Northport, Alabama with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Bessie Smith; husband, Ronnie Mayo; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Phillips and Robert Hunter.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Mayo (Shon); sisters, Gail Phillips and Betty Hunter; grandchildren, Otis Sims, Joseph Mayo, Amya Mayo, Noah Mayo, and Kinsley Mayo; niece, Mindy Sexton; and nephew, Brian Phillips.

Judy was born in Tuscaloosa and raised in the Brownville community. She was a 1960 graduate of Northside High School and attended Nursing School at Shelton State. She enjoyed a long career in nursing and retired from the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of West Alabama and Dr. Stephen Browne for the compassion and care they provided. Also, a very special thank you to Pearl Sims for helping to care for Judy the last few months.
