Police Seeking Witnesses to Deadly Wednesday Shooting at Tuscaloosa Apartments
Investigators are asking for the public's help finding answers after a man was fatally shot at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex Wednesday morning.
As the Thread previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police officers were called to Forrest Gardens apartments on James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway around 11 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a shooting there.
Captain Jack Kennedy said they found a male victim there suffering from a gunshot wound. The 37-year-old man was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center but did not survive his injuries.
The VCU has not yet released the victim's identity publicly.
Kennedy said the investigation into the killing is active and ongoing. The VCU has identified persons of interest and is seeking them out, but the police leader said they are also interested in talking to anyone who may have witnessed the violence Wednesday morning.
"Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information concerning it is encouraged to contact the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-2121 or the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690," Kennedy said Wednesday afternoon.
This deadly shooting marks the 19th homicide investigated in Tuscaloosa and the 26th in the county so far this year - record highs in both categories.
