A flood warning has been issued for parts of Tuscaloosa and Northport near the Black Warrior River, which is expected to rise Wednesday night and recede Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued the warning Wednesday evening, expecting that the river, which is already swollen from heavy rainfall Tuesday, would flood further overnight.

The NWS warned that the river is likely to rise above flood stage, 140 feet, sometime Wednesday evening and fall below that threshold again by early Thursday morning.

The event is likely to cause minor flooding in low-lying areas near Holt Lock and Dam.
