Expect Common Summer Weather for July 4th in West, Central Alabama
Happy 4th of July! Typical summer weather conditions will be in place for Independence Day and the remainder of the week. Common summer weather includes sunny skies and hot & humid conditions plus scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham mentioned that “you'll have ample opportunity to enjoy your outdoor plans today, but you may see an occasional passing thunderstorm this afternoon. Just be prepared to head inside if need be! Temps will warm up into the lower 90s.”
Timing of Summer Soakers
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that we can anticipate that “most of the summer soakers will come from 2:00 until 10:00 p.m and odds of any one place getting wet are in the 30-40 percent range most of the week. Afternoon highs will be in the 91-95 degree range for most communities, and a "heat index" could be needed later in the week as heat index values continue to rise.”
As you make plans for any outdoor events be sure to watch the sky and the radar for any pop showers or thunderstorms. Spann said that “for the big fireworks shows tonight, most, but not necessarily all, of the storms should be over by 9:00.”
