A Eutaw man was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Sumter County early Sunday morning, officials have confirmed.

Justin O'Neal, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said that the crash occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. Sunday when Ronald J. Daniels, 44, was driving his 2015 Nissan Maxima along Interstate 59.

Daniels collided head-on with a 2019 Dodge Ram, driven by Mellissa L. Council, 44, a Riverdale, Georgia resident.

While Council was transported to a local hospital for her injuries, Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene.

O'Neal said the crash occurred on I-59 near the 23 mile marker, roughly five miles north of York.

Nothing further is available at this time as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate
