Ernest Michael Howell, age 66, of Northport, AL, passed away December 12, 2021 at home.

Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Magnolia Chapel South with Bro. Randy Fuller officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Howell; mother, Elizabeth Howell Lewis; and stepfather, Wallace Wade Lewis.

Survivors include his daughter, Jade Elizabeth Howell; sister, Lisa Howell Pennington (Jim); brother, Jeff Howell (Dawn); and nieces and nephews, Justin Williams (Christy), Noah Howell, Madeleine Howell, Holly Barnett, Russ Barnett, Jessica Sims (Tyler), Erica Shelton (Rick), Clay Gates (Shea), Kayla Lyons (Colby), Kendall Manning (Luke), and Taylor Gates.

Ernest Michael “Hollywood” Howell was born February 16, 1955 in Andalusia, AL. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1973. After attending college, he started his career at BF Goodrich in 1977 and worked there until his retirement in 2010.

Mike shared his joy and sense of humor with everyone he met. He touched many lives through his Celebrate Recovery Ministry. He also shared the Gospel on his many mission trips to Bustamante, Mexico and Moldova. Mike was a passionate animal advocate.

His best friends were his rescue dogs, April and Joe. His absolute pride and joy was his daughter, Jade, who he called, “Dedi”.

Honorary pallbearers are Dianne and Jerome Lewis, Greg and Shirley McCracken, Marcia Howell, Donnie Theusen, Roy Baily, Mike Lamb, Steve Boudreaux, former coworkers at BF Goodrich Plant, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Bob Garrett and Knights of Columbus Council 4083, Assemblies 2527 & 3419 and Ladies Auxiliary, and friends and neighbors on Highland Point Drive.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.
