Emma Caroline Warren, a Tuscaloosa native and contestant on this season of “The Voice,” has made it through another round of the singing competition – just barely.

“When I heard him press his [save] button, I was overwhelmed in the best way,” Warren said of her coach, Blake Shelton, who kept her from elimination during her battle round with fellow contestant Cam Anthony.

Shelton chose Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber's “10,000 Hours” for the pair to perform to match Anthony’s R&B style and Warren’s country roots.

“It was perfect,” Warren said. “It totally made sense. Cam and I both wanted each other to succeed. He is unreal, just so good, and I felt like I held my own against him.”

Both Anthony and Warren rehearsed their duet relentlessly. However, Warren had so much fun, saying “it never felt like a competition.” Through the shared performance, the two became great friends.

“Practice was definitely about music, but also about getting to know each other,” Warren said. “If we didn’t know each other, how could we perform well together and make this fun?”

While Shelton was blown away by Warren’s vocal abilities, his only criticism lied with her stage presence.

"I wanted to scare some stage presence into you," Shelton told Warren after dropping the bombshell that she would remain in the competition. "Emma, you have a gift, you really do. And you're so much more than someone's backup singer."

Warren said stage presence is something she has always struggled with. However, under Shelton’s leadership, she hopes she can learn to feel more confident on stage.

“When I heard that button, I knew he believed in me,” Warren said. “He sees potential in me and wants to bring that out.”

Stage presence, according to Warren, is all about “connecting with the song emotionally.” While this duet was particularly nerve-wracking for Warren, she felt “all the love” from her hometown of Tuscaloosa.

“I feel like all of Tuscaloosa is behind me,” Warren said. “So many people have reached out and it feels so good.”

The next round Warren will face is The Knockouts. Warren will be participating in the “4-Way Knockout," which is where one singer from each team who was saved from elimination in the previous rounds will each perform one song in hopes of securing a spot in the Live Rounds.

The 4-Way Knockout is heavily dependent on viewer votes, so don’t forget to tune in and vote for Emma Caroline Warren as she continues on NBC’s “The Voice!"
