Druid City Brewing Hosting “BBQ for the Boot” for Hurricane Ida Victims in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Druid City Brewing Company will host a "BBQ for the Boot" fundraiser this Friday to assist a New Orleans-based organization providing relief in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
The event will take place Friday September 3 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Druid City Brewing at 607 14th Street in Tuscaloosa.
Each plate will carry a suggested donation of $10. All proceeds from the event will go towards Imagine Water Works New Orleans, an organization that has worked as a leader in reducing risk from flooding, pollution and natural hazards.

Bo Hicks, owner and operator at Druid City Brewing, partnered with University of Alabama alumnus Nathan Barfield for this event. Barfield currently works in New Orleans as the chef de cuisine at Turkey and the Wolf, a cajun-style barbecue joint.
"Nathan is an old friend of mine. He'll be out of power for a while, so he came up to Tuscaloosa to stay with his brother. That's when he reached out and said he wanted to put something together," Hicks said. "The outpouring of love and support that Tuscaloosa saw after the tornadoes made a lot of people want to help any way they could. Even now, people want to give help any way we can."
Folks interested in attending the BBQ have their choice between pulled pork and chicken, with sides including baked beans and andouille mac and cheese.
Hicks also wanted to thank the Welbourne Family, who owns the four Piggly Wiggly locations in Tuscaloosa County. The stores collectively donated all of the meat being used at the event.
"We'll be going until we run out of meat" Hicks said. "If you like good cooking and helping out a good cause, come on down."
