New Tuscaloosa Organization Collecting Items for First Coat Drive This Month
The Diamonds ITR Foundation is collecting coats through December 12 in preparation for a coat drive that will take place later this month.
Founder Brittany Watson said the new organization is hosting its first coat drive. The organization's mission is "to fill the gaps between our neighbors in need and the resources needed to lead enriched lives."

Watson said the rising costs of everyday necessities drove the organization to start the drive.
"Families are struggling to acquire basic needs and homelessness is increasing," Watson said. "Nothing is more heartbreaking than working your butt off and still not having enough to provide all needs for your family, your children."
Watson said the organization seeks to identify community needs and build a bridge between those in need and resources available to them.
The organization is accepting gently used or new coats, hats and gloves. On December 17, the organization will giveaway the collected items at New Harvest Church of God, located at 1910 14th Avenue in Tuscaloosa, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for anyone in need.
The organization has seven drop-off locations throughout the city, including:
- Carrie Fitts Real Etate
- Reggae Flava
- Movement Mortgage
- Auto Detail Carwash
- New Harvest Church of God
- Zo's NuYu Stying Salon
- Renasant Bank
