The DCH Health System and Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority are partnering this weekend to host a joint community health fair and educate the community about what each organization can offer.

The free event is set for this Saturday, April 15th, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Snow Hinton Park off McFarland Boulevard and will also feature food trucks and a children's play area.

DCH and some health-oriented community vendors will be on-site to offer free blood pressure screenings, stations to learn about preventing and treating common conditions like diabetes, a demonstration on healthy cooking and more.

“DCH’s mission is to serve to improve the health of our patients and community,” DCH System president and CEO Katrina Keefer said. “We are excited to partner with PARA to host a family-friendly event that is consistent with our mission and promises to be both fun and educational. We hope to see you there!”

PARA, whose newly hired executive director Brian Davis will take the reins of the organization on Monday, said they will be at the health fair Saturday to talk about the dozens of parks and facilities where area residents can stay active.

“DCH and PARA share a common goal of improving health and well-being in our community,” said Mike Crady, PARA's interim executive director. “With 33 well-maintained parks, PARA has a space near you where you can get outside, walk, play, and enjoy being more physically fit and active.”

Although Thursday and Friday are expected to be rainy in Tuscaloosa and showers are likely to return Sunday, Saturday is expected to be a warm, partly cloudy day so make plans to learn more about DCH and PARA at Snow Hinton Park this weekend.
